Art exhibition to transform pub into ‘The Penny-Tate’

Arts organisation Lust For Life Drawing is transforming The Pennyweight into ‘The Penny-Tate’ when the pub hosts an art exhibition.

It opens to the public on Friday 17th August at the venue in Darlington Market Square, and will exhibit drawings by attendees of Lust For Life Drawing sessions. The artists, from total beginners to professionals, have submitted works completed at or inspired by the life-drawing sessions.

Co-founder of Lust For Life Drawing Grace Lancaster said: “There is a serious amount of talent on show at each of our sessions and we are really grateful to the team at The Pennyweight for allowing us to take over their bar to set up an exhibition in a non-traditional environment.”

Lust For Life Drawing will also host a bonus ‘Drink + Draw’ event in The Pennyweight  on Saturday 18th August between 2pm and 4pm. People are encouraged to bring their art materials and sketch together in the relaxed pub atmosphere.

The regular monthly Lust For Life Drawing session will take place in The Pennyweight on Thursday 6th September from 7pm to 9pm.

  • Members of the public can visit the exhibition for free until 13th September.
