‘Pricks’: fifth UK tour

Darlington actress Jade Byrne takes her one-woman stage show, Pricks, on the road for the fifth time.

Pricks’ Spring 2020 Tour has numerous dates across the UK, and Jade will be heading to Teesside during the latter stages of the run.

Created in 2017, Pricks is Jade’s autobiographical tale of life with Type 1 diabetes. It is infused with plenty of tears and humour, Dennis the Menace, and it is a show for everyone, not just people with diabetes.

“It’s about 50/50 with regards to audience members who have a connection with Type 1 diabetes and audience members with no connection, but they all love it,” explained Jade.

“I wrote it to entertain and educate everyone, not just a niche audience, although obviously it appeals to a niche audience and I love to connect with Type 1s everywhere I go.”

Not only did 2019 see her garner support from fellow actor James Norton, but also health professionals like Partha Kar (Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust), Jade also found time to write her first children’s story, Daisy Donald.

Considering the emotional stance of the show, people have said it “should come with a tissue warning,” so expect lots of laughter, maybe some tears, and a mixture of what is an emotional rollercoaster.
