Oxjam Darlo: local music, global impact

On Sunday 28th October, Oxjam Darlo will promote home-grown talent across multiple genres. Seven town-centre venues have signed up be part of the takeover, where they will showcase local acts.

Now in its fourth year, the popular local music festival is back with a one-day takeover event in Darlington town centre. Since 2014, it has raised thousands of pounds to help Oxfam fight poverty and suffering in the UK and abroad.

Marketing co-ordinator Grace Lancaster said: “We’re really excited to be back with our main takeover event for 2018. We have some fantastic venues and bands on board and look forward to seeing local talent flourish, from indie to rhythm and blues, while raising some vital funds for Oxfam.”

Festival-goers can also sample a very special Jammin’ Ale, created by Darlington-based Rocket Town Brewery to raise funds for this cause.

Members of the public have the opportunity to be part of Oxjam Darlo’s success story by volunteering on the day. By sparing a couple of hours, volunteers will receive a free wristband that will gain them entry into all the venues at the festival. To find out more about volunteering at Oxjam Darlo, please contact a member of the festival team via Facebook page or other social media.
