Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum – is hosting an exhibition featuring the work of artist Bill Oakey, from Saturday 11th January 2020 to Sunday 8th March.
The ‘Off the Rails’ exhibition has a railway theme but focuses on the staff passengers and volunteers who play such an important part in the railways.
Bill Oakey, of Northallerton, has painted all of his life and after being a picture framer and gallery owner for 18 years, he now paints full time. He said: “There is a grand tradition of painting trains which I realise I have ignored, as I found myself more interested in the people around steam rather than the personality of steam trains.”
The exhibition is included in admission and annual passes
