The next Arts Society of North Yorkshire & South Durham lecture is called ‘Looking for Georgia’ and takes place on Monday 18th November 2pm at Blackwell Grange Hotel, Darlington DL3 8QH.
Lecturer Lydia Bauman is a highly skilled landscape painter and art historian. She has lectured to diverse audiences, notably in London’s National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston USA.
Following her exhibition at London’s Mall Gallery earlier in the year, Ms Bauman will talk about her journey through New Mexico in search of the iconic motifs painted by the legendary American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe.
Hear of the insights and discoveries made about the life and work practice of the artist and see how the desert of New Mexico, Miss O’Keeffe’s ‘backyard’ for over 50 years – inspired a very different artist working in London today.
