Drawing and travel are important factors of Rita Smith’s practice and produced over many years and miles, these hidden drawings go on public display for the first time. This exhibition at the Head of Steam is an ideal location, given the importance of the history of the railways in helping to open up the world.

Free Drawing Day – ‘Drawing from Collections with Rita Smith
Head of Steam Railway Museum. 10.00am. – 3.00pm
A drawing day with artist Rita Smith linked to her exhibition Travels with a. Sketchbook on display in the Museum. The historic location and exciting collections will provide the inspiration for small-scale work in a sketchbook, with an opportunity to develop work on a larger scale. This is a free event aimed at adults of all abilities who like to draw. Please bring a sketchbook, soft pencils and a packed lunch.
Normal entrance fees to the Museum apply.
This study day is supported by the North Yorkshire & South Durham Decorative & Fine Arts Society. North Yorkshire & South Durham Decorative & Fine Arts Society is part of Nadfas, a leading arts charity. NYSDDFAS members meet for monthly lectures and organise study days and outings.
