DfC reacts to libraries vote

A truly sad day for Darlington as Darlington council’s cabinet votes to move Crown Street Library to the Dolphin Centre.
As an organisation whose members have continually voiced their opposition to the move, we feel that this decision, which will be voted on by full council on March 23, is a missed opportunity for the town.
The community proposed a viable alternative that would have kept the library in Crown Street but the council dismissed it and that is deeply disappointing.
We do, however, welcome the decision to back a community plan for Cockerton Library, which offers hope for the library’s future.
