Darlington for Culture is pleased to support the Darlington Arts Festival Literary Day, co-ordinated by local author Tracey Iceton.
The Literary Day on 26th May will celebrate achievements of local writers and it also offers new, existing and lapsed poets, playwrights, novelists etc the chance to develop their craft as part of Darlington Arts Festival 2018.
We have hired the Friends Meeting House on Skinnergate from 9am-10pm on Saturday 26th May. This provides a central venue for authors and visitors to meet and spend time at workshops and events – including author readings/performances of published work, author talks/Q&As (about any aspect of the craft, such as the writing process, the finished product, the route to publication) and workshops to help those new to writing to get started or develop their own creative practice.
In addition to the array of events listed in the programme, there will be stalls in the foyer – including local indie publisher 6 Element, local independent bookshop Drake’s, and Darlington-based antiquarian bookseller Jeremiah Vokes.
Plus, Drake’s The Bookshop’s stall will have a selection of titles for young and old alike. There will be some by local authors and some current titles, so don’t miss out!
- Most of the events in the Literary Day on 26th May wil take place at the beautiful building of Friends Meeting House, 6 Skinnergate, Darlington DL3 7NB – check the programme listing links for more details.
